Hulu determined to destroy itself

Don’t you hate it when a website becomes an overnight sensation and then forgets what made them successful?
Grounded For Life

About a week ago, I was sitting in my basement playing Batman: Arkham Asylum on my XBox 360 while Wendie was at work. It was coming quite the storm outside but I didn’t pay it much attention … until a flash of lightning lit up the room followed by thunder that sounded like a grenade [...]
Why Your Spam Filter Sucks
Posted by Brian in computers, day-ruiners on March 14, 2009
Your spam filters suck because they can’t distinguish between what’s real and what isn’t when the person sending you an email takes steps to ensure that his email is not tagged as spam. This should bother you. This week, I got a personal cell phone and demoted my BlackBerry to “work-only” phone status. As a [...]
Why Yelp Stinks
Posted by Brian in day-ruiners, dining, web on February 22, 2009
Companies accuse Yelp of extortion; yelp says no way – Last year, I joined Yelp. I reviewed many small, out of the way eateries that I frequent. Most of the restaurants didn’t have their own page or any reviews. I figure it’s my way of bringing them some attention and –hopefully– business so they don’t [...]
Google Reader is read-tarded
Posted by Brian in day-ruiners, technology on September 5, 2007
Since I switched to Dreamhost, I forced my URL to simply be http://brianbaggett.com. If you subscribe to my URL and I update, Google Reader can’t handle it. I had to go back into Dreamhost’s control panel and allow both www.brianbaggett.com and the non-www URL for it to work. I have no idea why, but other [...]

Experts warn of lightning-strike injuries with iPods (via CNN) – Future Darwin Awards candidates get 1.21 gigawatts up their asses and their wounds exacerbated by wearing the ubiquitous personal music device. This is why I don’t go outside … even when it’s not raining. You never know when a storm will sneak up on you. [...]
You Are Not Special

Blame it on Mr. Rogers: Why Young Adults Feel So Entitled (via TV Squad) – Blaming Mr. Rogers for this is misguided; it’s the parents, stupid. If you’re a parent, you owe it to your child to make them self-reliant, independent people of character. Don’t worship, as the article puts it, “His Majesty, the fetus”. [...]
Dasvidania AllofMP3.com!

Russia to shut down allofmp3.com (page 2 at the top) – Well, that didn’t take long, did it? Just as I predicted a little over a week ago, allofmp3.com is doomed since Russia is now in the WTO. The legal loophole that allowed them to exist will be closed by June 2007. I had already [...]
Goodbye AllofMP3.com!
Posted by Brian in day-ruiners, music, politics on November 19, 2006
Russia has finally joined the WTO. AllofMP3.com was one of the sticking points that kept Russia out for so long. How long do you think it will be now before Russian law is amended to shut this site down? While I object in principle to sites like AllofMP3.com, I as a user want to be [...]
A Nightmare on Pearson Road
Posted by Brian in day-ruiners, misc, movies on September 22, 2006
On September 20th and 21st, New Line Cinema rereleased the original A Nightmare on Elm St. into theaters for two nights only. Since I’m still in Mississippi (until Saturday morning), I headed over to Cinemark in Pearl to check it out. Since I was eight when it came out originally, I had never seen it [...]
